Forgot to say that it happened on a 2.0-ongoing SVN r1932 version and was reported to me by a friend of mine running 2.0.2.

i can confirm this on ongoing-rev1936:

-open a session
-load audio into it
-left-click on a region
-press 's' - the region gets separated
-release the left mouse button
-here ardour crashes

I can confirm this still occurs with 2.0ongoing@2346 and trunk@2348.

this is now fixed in branches/2.0-ongoing.

Editor::keyboard_driver() now always drop the grab on a canvas item, because the use of this function indicates use of the keyboard as a "mouse button", and any existing grab that started on button-press is invalidated. There may be some nuances to this change that will need to be addressed, but it solves this and other lurking crashes too.
