| Description | Using the range tool, with no tracks selected, click and drag a range in, say, track 2. Because no tracks are selected a range will appear across all tracks. Now press the 'C' keys to crop this range. only the region in track 2 (the one that was clicked and dragged in) will be cropped. Another example. select, say, track 3. Click and drag a range in track 4. The range will appear only in track 3. Now press the 'C' key to crop. The region in track 4 (the one that was clicked and dragged) will be cropped not track 3 where the region is displayed. I think the range tool should select the track you are clicking and dragging in. If you then need to add more tracks to the selection this can be done by clicking track headers (shift+click, ctrl+click etc), or using ctrl+shift+click to select all tracks. | ||||

I guess that would be one way to go about it. I prefer the more direct "on canvas" method of range selection that Cubase, Sonar and a few other DAWs have used for a number of years as I find it much quicker. its definitely *not* quicker because you have to drag across all desired tracks. however, there is some good stuff to copy from the documented behaviour there. |

OK, slight improvement. Clicking and dragging on a track now selects that track. Cropping also works on that selected track. If, however, you add more tracks to the selection, only the first track gets cropped. If you make a selection in a track then select a different track, the selection follows the new track selection but the crop is still applied to the original track. Make a selection in a track. Now click in a another track but don't drag or release the click. The range from the previous track transfers to this new track until you start your drag. This should be a new selection and shouldn't show anything until the drag is started. |
