Summary | 0006012: Play midi while track is playing
Description | Currently, it's not possible to use midi input while a track is playing (but not recording). Being able to play midi while the track is playing without recording would be really useful, especially while doing sound design. For example, I have a drum loop, and a bass loop, and I would like to make a pad synth that fits well with them. It would be good to be able to just set the existing loops playing, while I noodle on my midi controller, and tweak knobs on my synth plugin. At the moment, the only options are to record tonnes of useless patterns while I loop over the existing material.

On the Mixer-Strip of the MIDI-track, explicitly explicitly choose "In"put monitoring (not "Disk"). |

Ah, ok. I was confused by this conversation: https://community.ardour.org/node/7356?destination=node%2F7356 and totally missed that option. |
