| Description | JACK session support doesn't work with A3 unless ardour3 is in your $PATH but the install script only installs to /opt/$A3version/bin and does alert the user to add that dir to their $PATH in order to have JACK session work nor does it offer to do this for you. | ||||

Having the install script offer to create a link from /opt/$A3version/bin/ardour3 to /usr/(local/)bin/ardour3 would probably be the nicest solution here actually. |

ardour should supply its entire path in the jack session info, perhaps. not clear. the problem is that ardour may have been started without using PATH, so its not clear that PATH should necessarily include it. |

I'd rather the full path to binaries not need to be stated in the session files as to me that seems to be heading the wrong way as ideally it would be easy to transfer JACK (and Ardour and all other necessary) sessions between users and machines although I have yet to pluck the courage up to find how well this concept doesn't work right now. This could be a question for Rui but I'd like to hear comments on the viability of transferring JACK sessions- dream or necesssity? I'd expect a script or just hand patching the session files would be required to make it work properly. |

The installer will now create a link called Ardour3 (just Ardour for A2) in /usr/local/bin that can be used to start Ardour from a command line. A2 -> rev 11551 A3 -> rev 11553 |
