Summary0003825: extremly loud pop at random places
DescriptionI just installed ardour on a really old laptop(2002) it has an amd 2400+ mobile cpu but only 189mb ram.. we've managed to get it fairly stable can manage a couple of tracks and a few plugs.. But then disaster struck, at random places there are insanely loud pops I'm shure you all are familiar with these as many broken plugs make them. But this time there are no plugs on the tracks, and I can zoom in to see the peak in the waveform that sets if off. Even stranger is that after 20 minutes it's gone again, witouth touching ardour at all, sndfile-info also reported the peak and 20minutes later it wanished http://pastebin.com/qVRe5QX6

I read about a similar bug (0003461) but that was said to only affect the vst version.

Ok, I've been doing some more research and found that those longer lasting (~1second) evil noises that almost sceared the shit out of us yesterday(and could probably blow monitors) are due because we sent the peaks to a reverb(this is quite obvious when you think about it) I just tried it and confirmed it. The reverb in question was the lv2-ir convolution.. The reverb broke if the signal was louder than ~700db tho.. I also tried to play the file in VLC and it also played back the spike. I'm starting to think this could be a problem in libsndfile perhaps?

i thought you said there were no plugins?

The tracks that got the peaks didn't necessarily have plugs (some had, we got many of these peaks through out the day) but the session did.. the plugs in question was one lv2-ir convolution on a bus and two lv2 eq10's. Dsp never reached above 30% @ 48khz 1024 buffer size and 2 frames/period... I don't see how the plugins can be related tho since vlc also played back the peaks..
