| Description | i am requesting a feature that would allow tracks, which are part of the same group (the more general group concept in Ardour 3), to have their active state changed together when the group is active. thus, this would allow allow one to switch the "active" state of a group of tracks (not the active state of a group) all at once. this could be implemented either as a separate group action, or perhaps when one track of an active group has its active state toggled, the rest of the tracks in the group follow suit. currently, in Ardour 2.8.11 SVN, with both edit and mixing groups, when a group is active and selected, and right clicking on one of the tracks of the group and selecting "Active", only the track on which one right clicked has its active state toggled, not the other tracks in the active group. i figure this would be a nice way to deactivate a bunch of tracks when not being used in a particular part of a song, to save processor/CPU/memory/etc . (this is assuming that deactivate tracks are basically the resource equivalent of not having the track at all), to test a different mix, etc. | ||||

thanks for the fast work. i will try it out and then make the sponsor payment. just 2 questions: 1) i have some projects in Ardour 2 SVN right now, and i am reluctant to switch to 3.0 SVN just yet. is it possible to install both 2 & 3 on the same system? i am running Gentoo. the only info i have found so far is using "stow": http://ardour.org/node/1921 it seems a little beyond my abilities. is there another method that the Ardour developers use? 2) how does one make the sponsor payment? thanks again for all your work. peace |

ahoy cth103, i just tested out the bulk group activate/deactivate feature in Ardour 3. thanks so much, it works great, and i cannot wait to use it more (your feature AND Ardour 3).
