Summary0001129: LADSPA plugins break outputs
DescriptionI don't know exactly what is the problem. When i use some plugins on ardour, everything is ok. I save, close...
I open again, and i cannot hear anything... sound seems to be out, levels view moves etc... but nothing i can hear excepting a little crackle on start and stop.

If hydrogen is running, its sound is break too.
I close ardour, and my hydrogen sound is played...

I was seeking a long time, and for testing i have clear every LADSPA plugins on ardour... and miracle: sound is back !

I reimport my ladspa plugin, everything is ok (sometimes no... some plugins break sound on the right or left... i have to restart ardour) i play, i don't touch anything... i save...
I reopen again ardour, the trouble appears again...

It seems to be as:

I have the same problem with ardour 0.99. It does not depend on other applications as Hydrogen.

The sound dissapear completely.

Sometimes it is possible to make ardour to play again by finding a track which breaks output:
1) Mute/unmute going from track to track until the sound appears again.
2) If muting/unmuting on a specific tracks "kills" all the ardours tracks output - then you have found a track with LADSPA plugin which "kills" the sound.
3) Deactivate all the plugins on the "faulty" track you found.
4) Activate plugins one by another until the sound dissapear again.
5) If activating/deactivating specific plugin "kills" the sound - then you found a plugin which kills the output.
6) open the plugin for Editing
7) Save the plugin parameters preset by pressing Save button.
8) Remove the plugin from a track
9) add the same plugin again
10) load the saved plugin parameters
11) dont touch anything and pray that the same problem will not repeat the next time (75% that the problem will appear again)

This problem can appear with any LADSPA plugin and any track (even Main outs).
Currently I had this problem with almost all of the plugins I use in last two days and 80% of songs I created the last weak:
TAP Equalizer, SC4 compressor, Simple amplifier, Mono chorus,Fast look ahead limiter.

I reported it in http://www.ardour.org/mantis/view.php?id=1131

There is absolutely no sound from ardour (I can see the transport marker running, but all tracks are silent, on the mixer all indicators shows silence). The sound in ALL tracks is killed by single random LADSPA plugin on random track.

The bug 1118 is absolutely different.

hi all,

i suppose i have a related problem here (thus i post it here):
after loading a saved session, a mono plugin on a stereo track will be applied only on one channel.

this is not really 100% reproducable, but i've experiences it twice today (with a tap eq).

this is with 0.99, i haven't tried a cvs snapshot, yet...

I'm not 100% sure this is the same issue, but I have a session file that seems to do similar things.

the session has one (mono) audio track connected to a pcm input, with some audio recorded, which then feeds into two separate stereo busses (which are panned hard left and hard right), then the audio track and both busses are fed as input into a 3rd stereo bus, which then outputs to master. The master is also fed from the initial track plus a couple of other recorded audio tracks.

I have observed the following behaviour more than once:

1) works nicely, I play the mix, and alter plugin params (nothing else)
2) save the file
3) exit ardour
4) restart ardour, load the session
5) silence - no output.
6) I go to the 3 busses, add a random plugin, then remove it, on each one
7) go to 1)

So *adding* a plugin, then removing it, can somehow make playing the mix work again - without touching anything else. I suggest trying it as a possibly more convenient workaround to anyone having the same problem.

(Edited to specify the track/bus arrangement a bit better)

Just to further clarify my previous note, it is adding a new plugin (I do not have to activate it, just add) which lets the sound through again. This can be done from the plugin selector or just by paste.

would somebody please try ardour2 (beta11.1 or current SVN) to see if this is still an issue. otherwise, i will have to close this bug.

Tried and it seems that the bug disapeared.
Let me test a few more days and i will confirm.

Thanks

As pre the comments above, this issue seems to be resolved when using the 2.x branch of Ardour. Since there has been no activity for years on this, I am going to go ahead and resolve this issue based off the last comment.
