Summary | 0009932: Strange crash affecting non-Clang builds
Description | This was reported by a Mixbus user in MB ver11 but it seems to have been around for quite a long time. I'm seeing it in MB ver10 and ver11 here (my MSVC builds and also Robin's builds) and I also see it in Robin's build of Ardour ver8
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Open some already existing session 2) Right-click an Editor track and select a new height 3) Press Session->Close (note - NOT Session->Quit) Mixbus/Ardour will now disappear from your screen.
Additional Information | 1) When the crash occurs, Mixbus and Ardour both generate a crash log with the following line near the top:- <whichever>.exe caused an Access Violation at location 0000000067F26ADD in module libgobject-2.0-0.dll Reading from location FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF 2) Strangely, I don't see the crash in my own Ardour builds - though the main difference here is that I build Ardour using Clang. And I've been told it doesn't affect Robin's MacOS versions either, which I believe are also built using Clang. I've no easy way of telling if it affects the Linux builds.

I was unable to reproduce a crash on Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS with Ardour 8.12 from Ardour.org. HOWEVER, during several attempts, about 8 or so, Ardour only asked ONCE if I would like to save the modified session. I would think that it should have asked for all of those sessions, because the height of the track was modified on all of them. |

I can confirm that this crashes in Win10 , using Ardour 8.11 from Ardour.org on this same machine. It looks like the 'New Session' window starts to pop up, but the old session tracks are still visible in the background, not yet cleared and unloaded plugins as it looks in Linux. It crashes horribly, and seems to lock up Windows Explorer. I could not select Start Menu or anything else. I had to CTRL-ALT-DELETE shutdown. |
