Summary0009843: After an hour or two of creating a project Ardour crashed while closing and project file is broken.
DescriptionLast week, after updating to 8.10, I spent a few hours creating a project consisting of several dozen samples arranged in eighteen or so tracks. I saved the project regularly but, sadly, didn't save versions. When I stopped work I saved the project one last time and tried to close Ardour. Ardour crashed during closedown (which wasn't actually a surprise - It often happens to me and therefore might not be relevant to this but I thought I'd mention it anyway).
The next day, when I loaded the project up and chose a region to loop I found that the 'loop' button was greyed out. I couldn't get any part of the project to loop. After some effort I managed to get some of the project to play using the 'play' button but mostly the play button didn't work either.
I have just opened the project again to see if there was anything I could see was the matter but I can't get it to do anything. Apart from the 'loop' button being greyed out everything *looks* ok.
The problem persists if I start in 'Safe Mode'. There are no plugins.
I will send you the project if you want to see it. It's 290mBytes and won't upload to this page, though.

I have just had another look. I can get at least a part of the project to play if I right click over a region and select 'play from edit point' but the play button at the top left of the screen doesn't work, neither does the spacebar on my my keyboard stop play. However the 'stop' button at the top left of the screen *does* stop play.

That is odd. It should not crash at exit. Is there anything in %localappdata%\Ardour8\CrashLog ?

Does the session have loop markers?

I haven't got anything in the CrashLog since July.
Yes the session does have loop markers. These seem to behave normally in that when I right click a region and select 'play/loop region' the loop markers move into place but the playhead doesn't move at all from wherever it is, the loop button remains grey and nothing plays. However, if I select 'play region' the region plays normally.
