| Description | Random crash when stopping recording - either hitting space bar or mousing on Stop button (USB keyboard/mouse). All Ardour windows close (usually I've got editor and mixer open), no error message. There *is* an xrun listed in the terminal screen where I started jack and ardour. This crash happens maybe 1 out of every 5-10 recordings. When ardour is restarted and same project opened, I get a popup saying that there was a crash during recording, and asking if I want to recover the data. If I choose to attempt recovery, Ardour crashes again, with the same vanishing screens and lack of error message. | ||||
| Additional Information | Fedore Core 1, CCRMA used to install all the audio apps. I should be up to date, I did an apt-get upgrade in late February and got the latest Ardour (0.9beta26 - the "Product Version" popup list in Mantis is quite out of date). I've been running Ardour the same way since summer 2004, and overall stability has gotten better. But this type of crash is new to me. Delta-44 soundcard, and I'm recording four tracks at once, and only four tracks (no overdubbing). | ||||

i have suspicions that the CCRMA 0.9beta26 build was corrupt. there have been other problems reported that have vanished in 0.9beta27, even though nothing was changed that should have affected them. could you please try beta27 and report back? if nothing else, beta27 should be *way* more responsive because of memory allocation issues, at least with reasonable size sessions. |

I upgraded to 0.9beta27, and haven't seen the problem since then. beta27 does seem a bit quicker to update screen, etc., but I did have an xrun a couple times. |
