| Description | Version 0.9beta26 When channel A is setup with an active post-fade plugin, I can here when channel A is connected to out1+2 or monitor, confirming that the plugin works etc. When channel A output is reconnected to channel B input to record the channel A with plugin, I get channel A but no plugin effect. Ditto if I move the plugin to channel B pre-fade location. It's as if the plugin is bypassed. | ||||
| Additional Information | I tried setting up a bus and then sending channel A to bus, then bus to channel B (recording on channel B). It still appears to bypass any plugins channel A post-fade plugins. | ||||

go to the options window, and click on the "Misc" tab. enable "Run plugins while recording". feel free to shout if you think it should be enabled by default. this is mostly a documentation issue. |

Thanks. I agree it's a documentation issue and I'm perfectly happy now that I know. Could/should there perhaps be some indication during record to indicate the status of plugins, inserts, and sends? Just curious - when plugins are enabled, how far does Ardour go in disabling (optimising out) 'unreachable' plugins, e.g. plugins in muted tracks or tracks that feed muted busses? |

there's no indication, because its implicit in the options choice. ardour simply doesn't run any plugins at all if it is actively recording and "run plugins while recording" is not enabled. they are *not* disabled - they are just not executed. that's why there is no visual indication of their status - it hasn't changed. |
