Summary0000904: Polarity switches no longer work.
DescriptionAs it says. The polarity switches on the mixer channels no longer invert the polarity of the audio signal.
This is with Ardour 0.9beta26

To reproduce.
Record something on a track. (mono or stereo)
Copy it to a second track, maintaining the position in time.
Press the polarity button on mixer channel of the second track.
The tracks should now cancel each other out, but do not.

hmm. i spent hours "fixing" it, then realized that the code was still in place to make it work. now i've tried it again, with the "unfixed" source, and i find it works just fine.

are you sure that

    * you have the same gain level on both tracks?
    * both tracks feed the same outputs

I would really hate to have wasted any of your time.
After a bit of experimentation and 'huh???' moments, I've worked out what is happening.
The polarity buttons do work, but only after the fader on their mixer channel has been moved! (The polarity will only work if the fader has ever been moved.)

To reproduce the non working polarity:
(The following without touching any faders)
Create a new blank session.
Create a track.
Import or record an audio file into it.
Create another track.
Copy to another track, maintaining the timing.
Now, press the polarity button on either track, and it won't work.
Next, move a fader on the track with the reversed polarity, and the polarity will work and they will start to cancel.

Sorry, it turns out to be a corner case rather than really broken, I will make sure I am more cautious in future!
