The issue applies to 0.9beta23 and some previous (beta19-22) ones. I couldn't compile latest CVS snapshot to check if the fix is already there (a bug in ./mkinstalldirs when trying to install translations) |

The russian translation requires the koi8-r charset. It doesn't look like you're using that. |

Indeed I am using KOI8-R. I can attach a screenshot where you can clearly see cyrillic letter on some buttons. I don't think that KOI8-R locale can apply to only some of the widgets :) |

The reason for this is that the translation is incomplete. Please feel free to update it. The file is ru_RU.po in gtk_ardour/po. |

The russian translation needs updating. It was last updated March, 2004. |

Taybin, I truly doubt that missing translation may result use of Latin 1 instead of KOI8-R :) AS for updating translation, I already did it yesterday and sent it to Igor Blinov, who is in charge for translations into Russian. |

What else would it show? There is no translation for "Follow PH". We'll have to see once he sends me the update. If he doesn't, send the patch to ardour-dev, and I'll apply it myself. |

Well, there is no conceptual problem with updating translation :) But there definitely is problem with using Latin1 encoding instead of KOI8-r in translated and not fuzzy strings -- the way it is shown on first two screenshots. The strange letters you see on hese two forst screenshots is not cyrillic alphabet. It's what applications show, when they try to render text in koi8-r with Latin1 encoding. I have sent you the third screesnhot to show that not all of Ardour's GUI suffers from this bug. It has nothing in common with missing translations, because it is a bug in displaying already translated text. If it wasn't translated, there would be no problem and I would save your time dealing with this bug report ;) I must add that I have no similar problems with application written with gtk1. I guess, Ardour tries to use some font that has no cyrillic glyphs. |

Has this been fixed? We force UTF-8 encoding on gettext now. |
