Summary0000819: 1/2 plugin crashes or crackles ardour
DescriptionAdding a 1/2 plugin (pre or post fader) to a "clean" stereo bus or track crashes ardour or crackles at first activation.

To reproduce:
 1) Create a new session
 2) Add a 1/2 plugin pre or post fader to the stereo bus
 3) Activate plugin (via "activate" in context menu, or depressing bypass
    in plugin editor dialog)
 4) Crackle & crash

If a stereo track is added to the session, and the 1/2 plugin is added to it, ardour will crackle when the plugin is activated for the first time, but it will not crash. De-activating and re-activating the plugin will not crackle further.

Ardour/GTK 0.548.1 running with libardour 0.851.1 (beta22)

At least the next:

Bode frequency shifter (ladspa id 1431)
   or
Comb splitter (ladspa id 1411)
   or
GVerb (ladspa id 1216)

I didn't try more as all of the first 1/2 plugins I tried caused the crash. Couldn't you reproduce this?

I had VST compiled in and enabled at runtime.

Tested on a newer version:
Ardour/GTK 0.550.0 running with libardour 0.852.

this is almost certainly fixed in current code. feel free to reopen if i am wrong, but this was one of the test cases i used during development of the current plugin handling code.

You can't make the configuration to create this bug. Considered fixed.
