| Summary | 0000807: Ports and plugins lost on improper exit | ||||
| Description | Hi! Promised to shut up, but I think this is important enough to be reported. :) My computer is quite slow (500 MHz Celeron) and when I start an Ardour session with many plugins Jack often time outs and disconnects Ardour. (I'm not that knowledgeable about Jack, but I think this is what happens?) If I called Ardour with ardour Session.ardour then the information about information about ports and plugins of the tracks is lost. (Master inputs also, i have to connect the tracks to master out afterwards.) If I start the session with just the command ardour and then open a recent .ardour file then it does not seem to get corrupted even if Ardour gets zombified. This situation is tricky it is impossible for me to add two ports to the same channel without making Ardour crash. So I have to remember to keep up-to-date backups of the .ardour-file I work with at the moment. Thanks for great Ardour! :) Anything I can do to help? Mikael PS. I would like to close the thread on stereo plugin connection problems, as I got aware that NoStar opened a similar thread before, is this possible using this version of Mantis? | ||||
| Additional Information | ardour --version returns Ardour/GTK 0.548.1 running with libardour 0.851.1, jackd (Realtime) is version 0.99.0 and my kernel is 2.6.8 with realtime capability, running Debian unstable. | ||||

i believe that this loss of information was fixed for 0.9beta26 or even 0.9beta25. there was a timing problem, and it would have been worse on a slower machine. i suffered the problem quite a lot myself, but since fixing it, have not seen it again. please test a newer version and report back. thanks. |

Hi! :) I'm going to finalise some songs recorded by our band whenever I get the time. I will try doing this with beta26. It is of course hard to verify the absence of the problem as I cannot reproduce the bugs at will. My system certainly is slow. A 500 MHz Celeron (overclocked) with optimization disabled. Same bad excuses apply to thread 835: http://www.ardour.org/mantis/view.php?id=835 Thank you for your great work! Mikael |
