Try the editor-[right]sidebar or mixer-[left]sidebar.

If this is an older session, re-ordering them once there, should fix the issue.

I had this happen on a newly created Ardour 5.9 session. When I manually disabled visibility of all tracks in the "Editor List" window and enabled it again for all tracks it resolved the problem.

I can confirm that in projects created in 5.9 from scratch this problem doesn't occur.

My problem (above) happened with a session created from scratch with 5.9 and no template was used. So the bug exists in 5.9 code also.

Can you test if the problem is still present in 5.10-21-g506b478fe

Is this still an issue with Ardour 6.0-pre1?

Should dragging tracks in the editor view be working now or not?
It does not work on 6.9

I would really like this feature.
I always have to google how to reorder tracks if I have not been using Ardour for a while.

Drag/Drop was never used to move tracks. In the editor: Select tracks, then ctrl + arrow up/down

Have a look a Ardour's Menu > Track > Move Selected Tracks ... That shows the keyboard shortcuts.

After using other track based software (in my personal experience) I would say dragging tracks is very common.
I think most new users need to Google how to drag tracks in Ardour, I know I have had to a few times.

Could it be considered to move tracks?

Is there a logic or reasoning written somewhere on why it's not possible to drag and drop tracks?

Simply because it is very hard and time-consuming to implement, nobody has yet volunteered to do it.

You can drag/drop using the Track list in the Editor and MIxer sidebars though.

Thanks, valid point!

Let's hope this gets attention in the future.
