| Summary | 0006998: Strange behavior of short regions created on first beat of a bar | ||||
| Description | Regions created using a click with the draw tool have some odd behavior. They can't be resized to the right, only to the left, and they disappear if moved. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | - Select the draw tool (I had it set to No Grid and Beats, but it doesn't seem to matter). - Click without dragging in the first beat of a bar. - Using the grab tool, try to use the right side resize handle to extend the region to the right. The region shouldn't extend. I tested this with the grab tool set to Grid and using either Bars or Seconds. - Still using the grab tool, drag the region somewhere else in the track. It disappears. | ||||
| Additional Information | This has happened to me both in older sessions created with Ardour4 and with a test session created with 5.0.0. | ||||

Please upgrade to 5.1 or later. Mouse-drag based region trimming was a major bug in 5.0 that was fixed in 5.1. Then report back on whether this issue still exists. |
I tested this using both 5.1 and 5.3. The issue persists. |
Which part of the issue? Trimming should now work. Do you meant the drag-and-vanish part, or the whole report? Also, how long are these regions? |
Both are still an issue. I also realize I didn't actually explicitly say these are MIDI regions. Because I just click without dragging in the drag tool, the regions are about one beat long (this seems to be some sort of default, as changing the draw grid doesn't affect it). Either the dragging or the disappearing also seem to happen intermittently with drawn regions up to half of the length of the Grab tool grid size. Either way, it's not exactly a bug one encounters frequently in typical use. |

Can you please test and confirm whether this is still an issue in version 5.8. Thanks. |
The issue seems to be fully fixed in 5.8 running on my Kubuntu machine. Thank you! |
