Since yesterday, Ardour always crash when I try to open a specific session and works well on every other sessions.
I've tried to read between the jack log lines, but nothing comes to my understanding.
Quick help will be really appreciate.
I don't wanna fight with code (that I already dive in with pleasure all the day long).
I just want to make music with the fastest way between my mind and the final result.

The affected session contains (as far as I can remember) :
- 6-7 audio track with 2-3 muted and 1-2 with 1-2 calf plugin
- 3-4 MIDI tracks with 2 muted and the non-muted with pitch plugin
- all of these were perfectly working yesterday afternoon
- then I've done some audio copy/paste, group some audio areas and added 1 or 2 calf plugins
- also working on the level of some tracks
- I saved it, try to reopen it few minutes later, then it fails...
- I've 3-4 snapshots of this session, all failed when opening

Also, I've performed a full apt-get upgrade/update, with no more positive results for this issue.

A well-working session is identical to the affected one except:
- there's no MIDI
- there's no imported sound
- there's no grouped areas

Please tell me there's an easy and quick solution.
Maybe the save operation as corrupted something (but in that case how will it affect any snapshot of this session?).
In the meantime, I'll try to open this damn session in other Ardours elsewhere and also recreate the failure context by adding progressively some elements (MIDI, imported audio, ...).

CPU and memory are OK.
There's no peak or whatever when launching the session or just before or just after.

running Ardour 3.5 these days, is grossly negligent please

That being said, try starting jack with qjackctl *before* launching Ardour.

The output indicates that you're using an ancient buggy version of jackd as well. Starting jack before everything else and keeping it running should work around this particular issue.

Of course jack is running *before* and still during my Ardoud session.
I'm globally aware of how is it working.
Once again, it happens only with one particular session, not with another one.
I will update jack and ardour.

Hurray!
Session is now correctly opening!

As I am stick with a LTS Ubuntu Studio, I haven't updated jack and ardour (note for myself: never use a LTS for my personal projects), .

But, when diving into my ardour files, I've found some audio files containing a percent character "%".
Once removed (from the ardour file and the audio files), and copying / pasting all project files to another project with a new name (it seems also to be related...), everything works just fine.

My next step: being a subscriber of Ardour ;)

Thank you x42 and all the team working on this project and other related.
You're doing an incredible work.


PS: I don't know how tickets are handled within your work process. Is it to me to close it? Or to you?
