| Summary | 0006788: Ardour 4.7 crashes when you press play | ||||
| Description | New crash in 4.7. Tested in 4.7.0 kxstudio downstream release, then duplicated in 4.7.10 nightly build. I suspect this may have to do with unlocking playhead location from loop, but I could be wrong. Loop as transport mode enabled. Clock set to Internal. In prior versions you could move the playhead around, then if you pressed play while loop mode was still engaged, the playhead would automatically jump to loop start. In 4.7 if I forget to turn off loop mode, home the playhead to start and hit the space bar, Ardour crashes. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | needs to be tested with loop mode ON compared to loop mode OFF. (I'm at work right now, sorry). 1. locate playhead to start (home key) 2. press play (space bar) 3. Ardour dies. | ||||

Can you describe a minimal session to reproduce this? I tried: - New Session (using jack, 1024fpp 48KHz) - Preferences > Transport > Enable "Play Loop is a transport mode" - Add a loop range (via right click) - enable loop - play, stop, rewind, play (tried both: buttons and space/home keyboard) No crash. Playhead also can be moved fine. Are there any latent plugins in the session? Midi Tracks ? Here, "Preferences > Transport > "Do seamless Looping" is disabled. (but didn't make a difference when testing) Menu > Transport Follow Playhead is on, Stationary Playhead off. (Ardour 4.7-187-g25a24e0) |

PS. Alternatively a backtrace of the crash would be useful |

Hi x42, not sure about a minimal session. It happened on first run of 2 different installs, opening an existing session with about 30 tracks. One MIDI track with DrumGizmo. I believe loop mode was engaged when I saved the snapshot. Tonight I went back to test again and now I can't reproduce it either. Thinking it may be a session format change or a config format change from 4.6 to 4.7; went as far as downloading another nightly to get a fresh install first run. But 4.7.187 doesn't have any keyboard support... :O I couldn't test that one with keyboard shortcuts, but the new window selector looks cool. Uninstalled and re-installed 4.7.10 to get a 'first run' and couldn't reproduce it there either. Best guess is the audio setup window that appears at first run - been so long since I've seen it, forgot to select JACK as the audio backend and ran it - with no ALSA bridge running on the system. /facepalm You can just close this one, chalk it up to user config error. Sorry. |

The issue with keyboard shortcuts was a bug in the bundle (fixed meanwhile). |
