| Summary | 0006720: MIDI Learn settings not exported into track template | ||||
| Description | According to the manual about MIDI Learn it should be possible to setup MIDI controller with MIDI learn and then create a template from a track so the Controller setup can be re-used later. I created a track with OBXD plugin and used MIDI learn to attach my Novation Launchcontrol XL to the plugin. This works perfect within the session, also after saving the session, restarting Ardour and loading the session again all the Controller Mappings are back. It also works if I create a template from the session. But it does not work, if I create a template from the track. I can then use this template to create new tracks and everything is as expected - just the controller is not there. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1) Create controller mapping with MIDI learn for OBXD plugin 2) Save template from track 3) create fresh empty session 4) create track from previously save track template 5) check controller mappings (-> they are not there) | ||||

I think in this case the manual is wrong. A session template makes sense as the whole mixer/session can be set to controls. With a track template, that controller would control all tracks made with the template... except that the controller number might already be used... they are assigned dynamically. saving a controller setting with a track template does not make sense unless the controller number gets incremented with each time the track template is used. There would be problems with that as well because after x number of controls the next up may be something not available on the surface or used for something else. |

the manual was updated to only suggest session-templates (not track-templates) |
