Summary0006335: Control Surface: MCP V-sel does not switch pan to width mode on bus as it does on a channel.
DescriptionAdding a plugin that changes a bus from mono to stereo (like a reverb) changes the pan to a width/pan control. In a channel strip hitting the V-Sel on a mackie control surface switches the V-pot to width mode, but on a bus strip this doesn't work. The default of 0% width is probably not what the user would want with a reverb and being able to change this from the control surface should be consistent from channel to bus.

Having thought about this some more, I am thinking that if a plugin is added to a bus that changes it to stereo, the control should probably default to width rather than pan in any case. Hmm in the GUI there seems to be no modifier key that changes mouse scroll from pan to width either. My reasoning is that in a bus where a number of channels are blessed with effects, the more likely thing to change is the width as the stereo placement should be done in the channel rather than bus. In fact, in a bus I would expect the default of adding a stereo plugin to be 100% width rather than 0%.

Hmm, restarting Ardour (maybe reloading the session) makes it work. It only fails to work right after adding a stereo plugin. It works ok on a channel though, v-sel switches to width on a channel as soon as the plugin is loaded... just not on a buss.

I am testing using the Steve Harris LV2 Plate Reverb.
