| Summary | 0005856: Mono panner inoperative in newly-created track/bus | ||||
| Description | V: Ardour 3.5.308, tested on multiple Linux systems. Steps to replicate: 1. Create a new project, or open an existing project. 2. Add a mono track or bus. 3. Attempt to pan the new track/bus via click/drag, right-click/edit, mouse wheel, or dragging the slider in the edit window. Panning does not change, nor is the panner widget updated. Edit window slider will attempt to change, but will snap back to 50/50 immediately. 4. Close the session or quit Ardour, then re-open the session. All existing panners work as expected. 5. Repeat from step 1, with the newly closed/re-opened session. Any new track or bus will exhibit the unexpected behavior, while any that existed before the session was re-opened will behave as expected. Panner automation works as expected, even when manual operation does not. Once an affected track/bus has been played with its panner automation in Play mode, the panner begins working as expected in all modes, and continues to do so. No error is reported during any part of this procedure. | ||||
| Additional Information | Multi-channel panners do not exhibit this behavior. I believe this was happening in version 3.5.143 as well. Having removed all copies, I can no longer confirm this. | ||||

Clarification: An affected panner may be enabled by simply switching its automation mode from Manual to Play, and back again. No actual automation need exist, nor is it necessary to roll the transport. |

Already fixed in https://github.com/ardour/ardour/commit/7bc3e0dab4dfac04d until the next release you can 'work around' by disabling Session > Preferences > Audio > Auto-connect track&bus outputs and/or Session > Properties > Monitoring > use monitoring section. |
