| Summary | 0000581: store track/bus templates and create tracks from templates | ||||
| Description | The idea is to be able to store a track template from a menu in the track(mouse right clicking). This way it stores the plugins/sends/etc and the amount of inputs and outputs that are currently in that track. Afterwards, when we can create a new track from a template we have stored previously.This is done from the current Add Track/Bus Dialog. An "Add Track/Bus from Template" should be added to the current Add Track/Bus Dialog. | ||||
| Additional Information | The reason for this is to be able to quickly make new tracks without having to add all the necessary plugins and sends.It saves a lot of time when you use many tracks that share the same properties. | ||||

It won't be implemented before version 1. There are no specific timeframe of when, if at all, it will be implemented. |

I think we can consider it implemented at the time of ardour 2.0 beta 7.1. [edit] Templates do _not_ work on a per track basis. There are only session templates. |

due to the need for midi support (and not quite ready to use v3 yet), i have unfortunately been forced to use logic pro for some of my projects. the track templates feature in that is one of the most useful features i have seen. saving and restoring track settings would be even more useful in a program like ardour due to it's incredible routing abilities. adding headphone sends etc can slow things down in the middle of a mix. |
