| Description | I'm running 3.2 built from src and have found an intermittent display freeze issue. Both the mixer and the editor stop updating, but audio keeps on playing. The display unfreezes again after 0000033:0000015 secs. The point where the freeze happens will vary, but it's almost %100 reproducable on this one session. I've got a few other sessions, none have the same issue. For this session CPU is normally around 12-15% (using top). But when the freeze happens it climbs quickly and sits at over 100% for about 15 secs, then it comes back down and we're back to normal UI updates. There's no sign of any disk I/O (wait = 0%) I'm starting Ardour from the terminal and nothing is logged here. | ||||

Further investigation has found the issue - a bad midi file, create by ardour wih some midi loopback going on. I got suspicious when I saw how big this file was (870k). Just try to import this file into a session and you'll see similar freeze-ups while ardour trys to figure it out. Perhaps ardour could warn the user the file is unusual? |
