| Description | I'm a new comer to Linux, let alone Ardour. Under windows I have been using Cool Edit Pro, I would like to use Linux but so far have several areas of problems. 1. I believe my audio card is not fully supported by Linux. It is a Creative Labs SB Platinum with live drive. The only Daw I have been able to install so far is Rezound, but I cannot record using either the front panel or back panel. I can however import a sound file. As yet I have not been able to install Ardour. The dependency tree has proven too big so far. Perhaps I should attack this from a different perspective. Being new to linux I have tried a number of flavours with no luck (with respect to the audio card). Is there a flavour you would recommend which will make light work of installing ardour, and do you think I should scrap this sound card, and if so what card do you recommend. (It would be a pity to lose the front panel accessibility tho.) | ||||

Use Fedora Core 1 (please note the 1), and then overlay Planet CCRMA on top. Links (and a recommendation to do this) are at ardour.org. BTW, its better to use ardour-users or ardour-dev or IRC (#ardour at irc.freenode.org) for questions like this. You will get faster, more diverse and more "interactive" answers. Welcome. |
