| Description | On OSX svn 12990 When ardour is not playing, hitting the "Disk" switch will change between "Disk" and "In" modes while hitting the "In" switch will not, which is a bit odd. When ardour is playing, it is the exact opposite. See attached movie. | ||||

Not odd at all. When not pressed the 'Disk' and 'In' buttons indicate what you are hearing depending on transport state (including play, stop and rec enable) and any settings like 'auto input'. This is shown by the coloured border around the button. Try enabling 'auto input' and then pressing 'play' and 'stop', you will see the border appear on the source you are hearing ie the live input to the track, or the disk playback. The secondary function of these buttons is to lock one or the other source (disk or in) as the thing you are hearing, regardless of all other settings or transport state. So if you want to always hear the track input and not any disk playback, click the 'in' button. It lights fully and regardless of whether you are playing or stopped you will always hear the input, indicated by the fully coloured button. |

OK, I do understand it better now. What is the case where one would want to record audio while not hearing what he records but instead what is on the track? |
