| Summary | 0004895: Many problem with changing length of midi notes | ||||
| Description | Ardour SVN 12388 (self-compiled) on AVLinux 5.0.3 Midi note editing to change length of note mostly does not work correctly, or at least it does not work like I expect it to. Setup: Highlight Select/move objects AND edit region contents buttons. Left click note - turns red. If hover mouse over red note toward right side of note mouse turns to <->] which suggests that you can increase length of note. Behavior of changing note length does not always work as expected: GOOD: o holding down left mouse button and moving mouse to right increases length of note. o Control-z works to reverse the action of any edit. BAD: o While you do increase note length text in yellow says "0 beats" which makes no sense. o If you move mouse right then left to increase then decrease note length in same mouse motion when you release the left mouse button the note more or less doubles in length rather than leaving the length of note when you released the mouse. o If you attempt to shorten the length of the note from the note doubles in length when mouse button is released. It seems impossible to shorten the length of the note. o If you hover over the left end of the note and get the [<-> mouse prompt you can lengthen the note to the right side, but when you let go of the mouse the note length jumps to a different length (but not the original). o It you try to increase note length to left yellow text says odd lengths like 9.8 beats or 10.1 beats. I would guess the yellow text is supposed to say the number of beats of the note length but I think the numbers given are wrong. o if the note is short you cannot get the [<-> or <->] prompts without increasing the magnification. OK I guess this is not really an error. o if you do 1 click while have the [<-> prompt the note length shortens to the unit give by the "Snap/Grid Units" box. Start time of note is changed, but end time of note remains the same. Maybe this is intended but it seems weird to me. Actually this was happening for a while but now I can't reproduce it. o if you do 1 click while have the [<-> prompt the note length increases by several beats. Does not seem to matter what "Snap/Grid Units" is set to. | ||||

its going to be necessary to be massively more specific about the settings that cause these isues. I've just tried to reproduce all of them and cannot get any of them to occur other than the "X.1 beats" which occurs only when the grid hasn't been used to force the length. |
