|Summary||0004767: Make it able to control all knobs & keys on virtual midi keyboard with controller (keyboard)|
|Description||To improve the workflow of the composer a lot, please add the following feature.|
Make it able to control all knobs & keys on virtual midi keyboard with controller (keyboard). I don't want to switch from my master keyboard controller to my computer keyboard all the time. I would like to be able to assign any key and knob on my master keyboard controller to one of the knobs of the virtual midi keyboard in Ardour (Sep Entry).

One way is to do it all with an external midi controller/keyboard, like this bugreport suggests.
Another way could be combining the PC keyboard with the midi controller. Then it would be nice to be able to use shortbuts for the edit options in the virtual step entry keyboard. In notation editors it's common to hit '1' for a whole note, '2' for a quarter and so on, for instance.
At the moment, you've to combine midi controller and mouse to do the step entry record editing.
||You should probably check out the contents of the file "step_editing.bindings" which is included with ardour and is part of the source code too. You might be suprised by what you find.|
