| Summary | 0004644: [mixer] group name unreadable | ||||
| Description | see attached screenshot: the name of the mixer groups in the groups widget is not readable, unless the group is selected. possibly because i am using a dark color scheme on my desktop, so the default foreground color is white. i suppose the `strips' widget should also contain the names of the mixer strips (although i cannot verify this) | ||||

My guess is that you are using KDE. KDE tries to override the theme used by applications and can cause what you are seeing. In the KDE settings is the ability to set which theme KDE tries to apply to GTK apps, that needs setting to Clearlooks. If Clearlooks isn't available in the drop down list then you will need to install the package for your distro that contains it. It is normally part of the default Gnome theme engines. |

i'm using the `oxygen-gtk' widget style ... and i prefer not to change it if possible ... |
Then you are going to continue having the problem you have reported. This is a KDE issue not an Ardour one. |
can you point me to the specific bug report in the kde bug tracker? |
I'm not aware that there is one. |
could you report the issue? i usually experience this kind of problems with applications that do not use the color schemes, but set colors on their own. this issue seems to be different and i don't know the technical details that cause this. you seem to have a knowledge of the underlying principles. so i suppose you can describe it much better than i can, so that the kde devs or oxygen-gtk devs can fix this issue. if you post the kde bug number, i am happy to assist in solving the problem ... |

ardour does absolutely set colors on its own, and it does not attempt to use the color schemes on the platform. this is not going to change. we will resist any attempt by desktop settings to define our colors. mostly ... it is the not the job of the desktop to override the color setting mechanisms of an application, especially not one with as much use for color as ardour. the desktop will never get it right. |
