Summary	0004629: Playhead not moving
Description	In either A3b1 or beta2, for some reason the playhead does not move when playing/recording. I have Ardour2.8.12 and it works fine. Ardour 3.0beta2 (built from revision ['11213'])

invalidName 2012-03-21 23:07 reporter ~0013003	I can reproduce the same issue on ubuntu Maverick (10.10) but not on a newer Ubuntu (unfortunately on an other computer with different hardware). Appearance of the bug: playhead doesn't move visibly but ardour is playing sounds when I hit the play button (or space bar). When I hit space again playback stops and the playhead position is updated (jumps to where playback stopped) This was on Ubuntu Maverick, using xfce4 and compiz, intel graphics. I tried all 3 beta releases which all had the issue. In Ardour2 the playhead is updated during playback. Also on ardour3 alpha10 the playhead is updated during playback. updating to a more recent version of Ubuntu (11.10) the issue was gone - possibly also related to different hardware: ati graphics, other hardware is almost identical.

emem 2012-03-22 10:35 reporter ~0013004	For me it was the same. AVLinux 4 - the playhead not moving, AVLinux 5 - playhead moving OK. (The same computer and the same version of Ardour). I think this is a software only problem (perhaps version of GTK / GDK?).

invalidName 2012-05-18 23:02 reporter ~0013262	recently I compiled from svn and the playhead now moves (still on the same machine - the beta test releases still don't have a moving playhead after I tried them again).

paul 2012-06-26 00:11 administrator ~0013711	Are you using JACK2 ? If so, this is caused by using an outdated version of JACK2. marking it closed anyway.
