Summary0004619: ability to set MIDI Clock granularity (PPQ)
DescriptionHi...
My external sequencer only has a resolution of 96 PPQ (parts per quarter note). As a result there is some drift between the external sequencer and Ardour. Would it be possible as per many software apps to set the resolution within Ardour to get a more reliable sync... (no hurry on this one)

I think there is quite a lot of confusion here.

The only way in which your sequencer and Ardour are "syncing" is via MIDI Clock, I think. MIDI Clock always involves sending 24 messages per quarter note, regardless of the N-PPQ values used at both ends. If things are drifting, I don't think its caused by different N-PPQ values.

Thanks Paul..

Are you able to suggest a way I may be able to help debug the reason for this drift issue?

cheers

Allan

hi .. feel free to close this bug.. I have been able to get much improved performance by compiling an rt patched kernel and using rtirq ..
