| Summary | 0004582: Click/pop then all tracks go silent | ||||
| Description | Somewhere in bar 90 of the attached session, i hear a loud click/pop and then all the tracks go silent even though the volume meters continue to dance. Through the process of elimination, i have narrowed the issue down to the fader automation on the audio track named "Bass Drum". The only remarkable thing about this track's fader automation is that i "wrote" the automation for the entire track and then adjusted it by setting it to "write" partway through the song (probably about bar 90) and then rewriting the automation from that point forward. | ||||

i may have "rewritten" the bass drum track fader automation on more than one occasion. i can't remember. |

may or may not be useful to know that muting the bass drum track will allow the song to play normally. however, once the click/pop event is allowed to happen, all tracks are silent as long as bass drum track remains unmuted. muting the bass drum track causes the remainder of the tracks to sound normally once again. this muting/unmuting and associated behavior can go on ad infinitum. also, clicking on the bass drum mute/unmute button causes a click/pop. there is also a click/pop as ardour shuts down. |
turning on dc bias and deactivating all plugins does not eliminate the click/pop but it DOES eliminate the silencing of all other tracks. |
It seems that the root cause of all this nonsense is probably a pop induced by some discontinuity in the fader automation. however, the global silencing of playback is probably effected by one of the track's plugins (either calf 5 band eq or calf vintage delay). thus, i will close this ticket and reopen a ticket specifically on the fader automation-induced pop. |
