Summary0004516: Ardour 3 beta OSX crashes on load
DescriptionLoading Ardour 3 gives me the startup window and the
ability to choose a new or existing project. I choose
a new project name and click open. I get the spinning
beach ball for about thirty seconds and then I get a
message saying that Ardour has quit unexpectedly.
OSX crash report attached.

I had originally set up the default location for project files to be on an external disc (which had more space) and the default sampling rate to 44.1KHZ.
Using the suggested defaults allowed Ardour to load. It looks like the crash
was based on AU plugin scanning issues. I have attached a JPEG of the Ardour
Log. Also, it indicates I have an older version of Jack installed, although
I had thought I had updated to the most recent version last spring (April 2011).
By the way, the option to reopen after a crash does not seem to be working.

I just noticed that I had indicated this was for the Ardour 3-alpha 10
version when it should have been the Ardour 3-beta. My apologies.

This crash is definitely caused by a plugin and its interactions with Ardour. Probably called "timewarp". Can you run auval on the plugin to check that it passes Apple validation? Let me know if you don't know how to do that.

And yes, you will need to use the absolute latest version of JackOSX to get A3 to work reliably on OS X. It hasn't yet been released - it will be out in a few days, so watch http://jackosx.com/ for news of that. JACK isn't the cause (I think) of this bug however.
