If I try to record something onto the tape track immediately after adding it, it doesn't seem to record anything (no region appears in either the track or the region list), but if I then close and re-open the session, the 'missing file' message doesn't appear and recording onto the tape track appears to then work.

Just an aside: I don't need tape tracks for anything: I only created one in the first place because I was curious to see what the different image on the rec-enable button looked like, so unless anyone else desperately needs them in their workflow I'd say this is a pretty low priority.

i see simular stuff here, but for me the tape track mode looks pretty broken right now.

in tape mode we was able to record a region, and if we record another region over the first one, the first one wuold be simple overwritten.

atm if we overdub into a tape track, we get another leyered region on every overdub.
so, tape track is performing pretty the same like a normal audio track.

or am i overseeing sth?

cheers,
doc

I can confirm the breakage: Audio gets recorded (including overdubs) to disk correctly, but no region appears on the canvas. The region list shows the region but with zero length.

@nowhiskey: I think you are missing, that transforming a regular track into a tape track doesn't work. Dunno why this choice is still present from the tracks menu. ;) You have to create a track as a tapetrack from the get-go.
