Summary0004411: Silence when exporting MIDI regions routed through separate MIDI track
DescriptionA3 svn 10348

1. create new session
2. add new MIDI track 1
3. load LinuxSampler to MIDI track 1
4. set MIDI track 1 output to master in
5. enabled MIDI input on MIDI track 1
6. add new MIDI track 2
7. set MIDI track 2 output to MIDI track input 1
8. create MIDI region with MIDI note data on MIDI track 2

The notes are played when listened to.

When exporting, there is meter activity on MIDI track 2, no activity on either MIDI track 1 or the master bus. The resulting export file is silent.

If you move the region from MIDI track 2, to MIDI track 1, exporting will work properly.
Additional InformationThe attached session TEST is the described scenario

As I understand it, you are trying to use the first MIDI track as a kind of bus. This won't work, as it is a track and so will read its data from disk. Ardour doesn't have MIDI busses (yet) I'm afraid. Have I misunderstood your intentions?

That is correct. Instead of loading multiple instances of the LinuxSampler plugin, I am loading it once and routing separate MIDI tracks to specific channels. Your explanation makes sense. Thanks!

Now that I think about it, I think you can cheat by pushing the "In" button on the first MIDI track's mixer strip to get it to behave a bit like a bus. I'm not sure how well this will work for your application, though ... may be worth a try.
