Summary0004364: Pop-up windows have no close button under GNOME 3
DescriptionUnder a GNOME 3 desktop, various pop-up windows -- routing matrix windows, plugin windows, etc. -- have no close button in their title bars. This Red Hat bug discusses the same issue affecting some versions of Firefox:

The problem seems to be that GNOME expects that any windows marked as dialog windows will be asking for direct user input and then closing on their own (eg: an OK/Cancel dialog that closes once the user clicks on either the OK or Cancel button). However, Ardour 3's windows don't work in this way.
Additional InformationA workaround: some windows can be closed by hitting the Esc key; any others can be closed by right-clicking their title bars and selecting Close.

I'm on Ubuntu 11.10 running GNOME 3.2, but I believe this problem applies to any GNOME 3 desktop.

Ardour is 3.0 SVN r10206

Sounds like a bug within the GNOME 3 window manager rather than A3 to me.

It's not considered a bug upstream -- it's a deliberate design choice and it's unlikely to change.
