| Summary | 0004305: Soloing bus mutes all tracks | ||||
| Description | I have a midi track (session attached) with 2 parts on channel 1 & 2 which are output to Pianoteq (PT) and LinuxSampler (LS) (with Salamander Grand Piano). The audio output of PT and LS are separately routed to 2 buses in Ardour. If I solo one bus the other is muted (good), but there is no sound from the solo'ed bus (either way solo is done). However, I can mute one or the other bus and still hear the unmuted one (as expected). So hitting solo on one bus mutes both. | ||||
| Additional Information | Here are other oddities I've observed with this session: o When I use the "go to end of session" or "go to start of session" I hear a "swoosh" noise which comes from LinuxSampler (i.e. the bus volume bar on LS has motion when I hear the swoosh). I suppose this is a harmless effect, but it is a little strange. o Is it a bug or a feature that the playback does not stop at the end marker? I'd like it to stop but it doesn't. o When looping a section of midi, playback sometimes does not start until the 2nd time through. o At certain points of playing this file I got lots of these [ERROR]: MRB: Unable to reserve space in buffer, event skipped | ||||

I suspect the solo thing happens because when you solo a bus this mutes the MIDI track, hence no MIDI is being fed to Pianoteq or Linuxsampler. Does it work ok if you solo the MIDI track as well as one of the busses? Stopping at the end marker is an option: Edit->Preferences, Transport tab, 'Stop at the end of the session' Why is Linuxsampler making noises when you change its volume? The other problems really need entering as separate Mantis entries; I'll do this. |

You are correct, the problem is that soloing the bus mutes the MIDI track. So this is not a bug, but just a lack of understanding on my part. |

Are you still seeing any of the playback not starting or buffer errors? |
