Summary0004183: Setting a new tempo mark set also a new beat
DescriptionWhile it is impossible to make continuous tempo changes yet (would be very useful) I wanted to just set the tempo manually step by step.

But when the tempo mark is set to be in a measure and not at the beginning it automatically makes a new measure. So, when have 4/4 measure ans want to change the tempo 4 times on every beat. The result is: 4 measures with one beat each and a tempo change on every of them.

This wouldn't be so horrible but the Click do no change the sound then (it plays only first beat sound and therefore the orientation is very difficult).

it is a design assumption inside ardour, based on some careful study of western notation traditions, that it is not possible to change to a new tempo or meter other than at the start of a measure ("bar"). there are some examples by bartok that violate this rule, but that's about all i could find (with the help of some musician friends of mine.

consequently, there's no away around this "feature" for now, and you'll need to wait till we implement actual ritardando and accelerando.
