| Description | Midi playback stops when the play head crosses the junction between 2 regions. Specifically, I split a region and slid one region over the other to cover an error. Later on, I learned about non-layered region editing so I did a "separate under" operation to remove the overlap (this is a great new feature). However, in both the case of having a region overlap or having 2 regions adjoin each other, the midi playback stops when the playhead passes over the end of the first region. | ||||

Can you attach a small test session (after you have performed the split operation) which demonstrates this problem? |

I have uploaded an ardour session with midi file which illustrates the problem. There are region splits at about 4:50 and 4:59 both of which cause stops in playback (midi out to Pianoteq). Sometimes they play through the split successfully, but usually not. I also cannot get the "push/pull" trim to work with this file either (reported in another bug report) This relatively long midi file illustrates another problem - it takes a relatively long time for the file to load and become visualized. Also moving around using the overview panel does not work very smoothly. Also this midi track contains 2 midi channels of identical notes. This is an artifact caused by my keyboard which outputs on channels 1 & 2 by default. There is no way to turn it off (though I have since learned how to filter out one channel with middings) |

I've tried playing back the attached session under alpha4 and latest svn and it seems temperamental to me in that sometimes it does successfully continue to play when crossing a region boundary, other times some of the last notes in the previous region get stuck and nothing gets played of the new (currently playing) region. |

Thanks for checking the file. I might also add that after the playing stops you can stop/start playback and the playing will start again. Also, possibly relevant is the fact that this track was recorded with Pianoteq and then imported to A3. I've decided that to record solo piano it is easier to do it in Pianoteq and then import to some midi editing program later on. |

Thanks for the example session, very helpful. This should be fixed in SVN 9399. Could you perhaps test and report how you get on? The speed problems with the long MIDI file are being investigated. |

I checked out SVN 9402 and now play does not stop between region boundaries. So I have marked the bug as resolved. |
