Summary0003922: 32Bit to 64Bit Project Incompatibility
DescriptionI have recently installed a 64Bit Ubuntu Studio and also installed Ardour 3 Alpha 3, the project i was testing on 32Bit won't open at all in 64Bit, Ardour shows the initial dialog for new or existing project, when i choose the project, Ardour doesnt show any more and no Ardour Process is seen en system monitor, not even after rebooting or anything, just won't load.

However i could open a 64Bit Project in 32Bit Ardour3 Alpha3 without any trouble.

Update:

bug probably related to plugin dependancy on some way or software update, got it to load the project after removing from the 32bit the plugins i couldnt install in 64bit (plugins related to liblash2 which was not available in 64bit for some reason)

Even after that the project would not load until i added some other recommended repositories and installed other software including liblash2

if you have plugins that have their own dependencies, there's nothing ardour can do to detect this. it could fail in a more elegant way.

what were these plugins? i can see no reason whatsoever for a plugin to interact with liblash, so i'd like to understand which ones they are ...

there were 3 programs requiring liblash2 (1 plugin kit)

Calfplugins
Seq24
Hydrogen

i managed to install liblash2 using PPAs found here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1670196

after that i've been able to use A3 with that 32bit saved project and add Calf plugins with no problem.
