| Description | First make sure JACK is started with the seq MIDI driver and you have a MIDI keyboard attached. Create a MIDI track then add a LV2 or VSTi softsynth to it before expanding the track vertically so the on-screen keyboard appears in the track. If the plugin works then clicking on keys on the integrated keyboard will be producing sound. Now, record enable the MIDI track and when you push a key the tracks meter bounces up to indicate its receiving input although no audio is produced, nor is any audio output if record is pushed in the main transport and MIDI is being input via a physical (ALSA) MIDI keyboard. It is only when playing back the track (or clicking the on-screen keyboard) that the plugin emits audio. | ||||

do you have "ardour" as your monitoring choice in Preferences->Audio ? that's all it took to make this work here. |

Thanks Paul - that was indeed the problem so this can be resolved. Would ardour not be a better default for the monitoring? |
