Summary0003734: copy and past of midi events isn't working properly
DescriptionGreetings:

I can record midi events in a track. When I attempt to copy / paste them using either the marker, play ahead or mouse settings, the paste does not land where I'm trying to put it. For example I'm unable to paste the recorded events to be at the beginning of the track at time 0. The pasted event seems to land in the same spot every time.

Hi Paul:

What I am trying to do is copy a region of recorded midi events to create a repeated loop of events within the track. I can record a snippet of events that represent what I want to copy and paste to create the loop. after the recording, I press stop to stop everything. the recorded section now displays at a different time in the track then when recorded it (issue 3738). I highlight the recorded region and right click and select copy region. I then select the "marker" setting of the copy and paste tool. I then place the red play ahead marker to a position where I want the paste the region. I then right click in the track and select paste. After that the pasted section shows up off of the visible screen to a section about 15 second ahead of where the play ahead marker is. I also tried pasting with the "mouse" and "play ahead" paste settings but the same result happens. I don't know how to make the paste land where I'm trying to put it. I did read the documentation for it, but I think is is not working from how the documentation says it should. I use ubuntu Lucid 10.4 LTS. Should I try this setup on another build of linux? Do you recommend another version that I should try? I've been using ardour for a number of years and have been waiting for the midi functionality so that I don't have to have several programs open to record a track. You guys are doning a terrific job. I have donated money before. What do you recommend for me to do next?

Thanks.
Bill.
