| Summary | 0000360: Pls make a live cd | ||||
| Description | Some of us are dying to try Ardour but cannot understand Linux. A Preinstalled live C.D. with apropriate kernal tweaks, jack etc etc would be fantastic. It could distributed with hardware too!! | ||||

while this would be nice, its not a priority for the core team. if you hang out on #ardour for a while, you will realize the incredibly *deep* problems that emerge with people's h/w configurations. a live CD would only tend to exacerbate these problems because they generally will be unable to tune the system in any persistent fashion. badly tuned disk drives, misbehaving audio interfaces and video interfaces, bad interrupt assignment by the BIOS ... the list goes on. all these can create a system on which ardour runs incredibly badly. figuring out how to do this properly is a project we don't have the manpower to work on. check out what the Agnula project is doing. they are slow, but heading in the direction you are interest in. |
