Summary0000338: Corrupted Session
DescriptionI've had problems after inserting a plugin or extra track, when you roll the transport, Ardour gets kicked from jack, and then when you restart jack/ardour, you cannot open the session again without being kicked everytime, pretty much making the session unusable. Maybe Ardour can have some sort of prevention to this, like a "safe mode" or loading a session without communicating with jack. Or, It would be great to have a utility that analyses a session file to check for errors, or so you could remove the entries for plugins/tracks that cause Ardour to get kicked from jack because it was too slow.

Ardour creates a backup file before writing the session file. It is session_name.ardour.bak.

i understand your frustration, but there is absolutely no way to do this. JACK kicking you out is a non-deterministic event. it cannot be predicted or inferred from the session file. you could open your session on a different machine, for example, and it may work. or you could have a working session that failed on a new machine, or even a different run-time configuration of JACK.

how many tracks/plugins are you using when this happens? how you would ideally like to deal with the fact that (like it or not) you're exceeding the capabilities of your current system configuration (possibly aided by a bug in ardour, but that remains to be seen)?
