Summary0003375: main menu strip is too wide
DescriptionI have a very average 1280x800 display on my laptop as I'm sure many others do. There is an unnecessary, fixed amount of dead space just to the right of the 'Help' menu that causes the main A3 window to be unable to fit horizontally on my screen/desktop even when maximised. This means I can't see the clock, the right-hand side scroll bars for the summary view but most importantly it means I can't see any of the editor list tabs without using ALT+LMB to move the window around.

Marked as major because I know this has been complained about numerous times in irc and many are unaware of ALT+LMB to move a window but that shouldn't be required anyway on an average laptop display.

If the buffer info, time etc. in the top right is merely being justified to the right of the Ardour window then I suspect the highlighted area will automatically shrink to a more acceptable size if 3377 gets implemented so I'd say these two should be marked as related in that case.

the screenshot here does not show the use of clearlooks as the theme. that is an issue that needs to be resolved before considering this further.

That happens when compiling with Debian Squeeze defaults but not under thabuntu.

From whence come these new free'd pixels you talk of Mr Davis??

I run under Debian (mostly experimental) on a laptop with the same screen resolution. I do not have this problem. Make sure you have clearlooks installed.

clearlooks comes with Ardour. there's no need for it be installed. or there should be no need.

if you look more closely at that image you'll see that the "extra" width is there because the width of the toolbar (below the clocks). as you noted, this is related to 0003377 but i consider this issue as a "no change" item. whether or not the toolbar is too wide will be continued in 0003377.
