| Summary | 0003328: MIDI automation broke | ||||
| Description | MIDI automation stopped working in the last couple of days- it isn't working under 7437 with either phasex or bristol. I can draw it fine but it doesn't seem to be sending the control signals- just the note data. | ||||

Do you have the automation tracks in "play" mode? |
Of course Actually, MIDI automation is working some of the time - something is temperamental here I just need to work out what. I should have a decent amount of time to test A3 today so by the end of the day I should have sussed out whats what- could be bugs in bristol or phasex and not A3. |

Took me a while to work out what was going wrong with the automation but I think I know how its breaking now. Create a MIDI track with automation and draw an M shape (ie two peaks), lets assign this automation to volume in this example. If you play back this after initially drawing it will work as expected in that the volume will go up, down, up then down. Now adjust the 4th control point ie the height of the 2nd auto. peak and play back- the automation will go only go up and down once on the first peak as the second has now 'broke' - CTRL-Z (undo) and both will work again. Now adjust the 2nd control point (the height of the first peak) and play back and you'll notice the volume only goes up and down on the second peak as now the first peak is broke. I'm sure there was a much easier way to say that but that should demonstrate the problem pretty clearly. |

Good work, I can reproduce that. A session save after drawing the initial automation seems to be important. |
Or, at least, I managed to reproduce it once :( |

Yeah I just tried this again but under 7439 lucid 64 and, although I have still seen bits of the automation stop working already by moving control points and not zooming, the above formula doesn't apply for the most part. More investigation needed here it seems. |

Seems to be fixed under 7450 Thanks Carl! |
