Summary0003132: length of MIDI note insertions set by beat division
DescriptionATM Ardour only inserts notes of one beat in length which you then have to resize.

I think it would be more efficient if the length of the note being inserted was equal to the length of beat (or bar) division currently selected. If you don't have a none beat or bar value selected then it would default to the last used size note.

I would second this suggestion as this is the default behavior in many other midi editors, and is very efficient during editing.

Implemented in SVN. Let me know what you think. Note (ha ha) that when creating notes you can also drag to set the length.

Hi cth103!

Thanks v. much for implementing this so quick- it does work as I'd hoped now and Ardours MIDI editing has become much more usable and efficient as a result.

Yes, I was aware you could drag notes to set the length but being able to set the note length before insertion is a much nicer and quicker way to work.

I can also confirm in r7109 that the MIDI controller menu doesn't disappear after the first click any more- which is also great news!

Those were 2 of the main three issues preventing me from really using Ardours MIDI properly- the third being issue 3138 so I'd be very grateful if someone could fix that next so I can get some serious testing done!

Thanks again!

When I mean "drag" I mean you can drag during insertion, ie mouse down to create note, drag, mouse up. Just to make it clear! Thanks for reporting back.
