| Summary | 0002711: The 'waveforms' menu options in the 'track' menu don't reflect the track selection and are inconsistant. | ||||
| Description | There are 3 options in the waveforms menu. The first option is to enable or disable region waveforms. This option is a global option but cannot be actioned unless at least one track header is selected and then applies globally and not to the selected track(s). The other options are to show waveforms as either linear or logarithmic. These options are also not actionable unless at least one track header is selected but in this case only apply to the selected track(s). The 'tick' in the menu, though, shows a setting as if it were globally set as it does not change as different track headers are selected. Suggest that these options are made purely global and that if individual tracks need changing then that should be done from the track header context menu. This menu could show, for example, options : 'Default', 'Linear' or 'Logarithmic'. Default would mean 'set as per the global setting'. The other two options are self explanatory. | ||||

These problems do not seem to exist in 3.0. Can you perhaps confirm this? |

As far as I can see 3.0 has exactly the same problems. |

Take enabling waveforms as an example. As I described, the option is global, but can only be selected if at least one track header is selected. If it is a global setting it should make no difference if track headers are selected or not. The option should be available even when no track headers are selected. This is the same in both 2.x and 3.x. For the 'linear' and 'logarithmic' settings try this. Select a single track header, now go to the 'track'->'waveform' menu and select 'logarithmic'. The tracks waveform will change. Now select a different single track header and then go to the same menu. Notice that even though this tracks view type has not been changed the menu shows it as having a 'logarithmic' setting. Now change this back to linear, select the original track header and note that the this track although set to logarithmic is indicated to be linear. Also note that I am talking about the toolbar 'track' menu and not the context menu of the track headers. But look at the two, they get out of step and contradict each other as well (a further issue) |

Ah right, yes, sorry, I missed the fact that it's the track menu rather than the context one. I've made these options global in rev 5160. Do you think the option to set individual tracks to something different is useful? |

For the linear, logarithmic settings, probably, but 'show waveforms' probably not. |
