Summary0002506: solo sometimes gets confused by mute state and disregards mute settings
Descriptiontwo issues. to reproduce, create a master bus with more than one channel and use a post-fader plugin that will do something obvious to the output, such as panning to one channel only. create a mono track for testing with as many outputs as your master, and route it into the master.

first, set your solo options to "latched solo", "solo in place", "show solo mutings". NOT "override muting".

now mute a track. solo it. you don't hear anything. that's correct.
now unmute the track. you get solo, *but* all post-fader stuff is bypassed and the signal goes to all channels at the same level. that is wrong.
to compare: when you solo a track that has not already been muted, you get the correct solo output including post-fader processing.

second issue: add "override muting" to your solo options.
when you solo an unmuted track, all is well.
now solo a muted track. you do get output (the "mute override" works), but again all post-fader processing is bypassed and the mono signal goes to all master channels alike.

the root cause of both these symptoms is probably the same.

this is something of a productivity killer in surround applications, so i've rated it as "major". i'd like to see this fixed in 2.7.x, even if all devs are now justly focusing on 3.0.

I added that duplicate by mistake, but I can't delete it because I get "Application error 0000019" from mantis.

I can't reproduce this here. What plugin are you using on the master bus?

nettings is this still an issue for you?

yes, the bug still exists. to reproduce:
create a first-order ambi master bus (four channels) and a mono track. add the a first-order panner plugin to the mono track, post-fader (either from fons' AMB or the CMT). pan it to some elevation and azimuth like 23°.
import some audio, play it.
watch the master meters: all four get different levels, like they should.
mute the track, solo it. unmute. now all master channels get the same stuff, apparently a copy of the mono signal.

this is not really a huge issue for me (i can work around it), but it indicates a subtle bug that is bound to create lots of confusion and frustration for users, so i'd be very happy to know some dev can reproduce it.

Hi again

I'm just trying this out, with the AMB 1st order panner. I'm judging things on the meters only (not the actual audio) but things seem to work as they should EXCEPT when "Pre Fader" is ticked in the mute button's context menu. Is this the same as what you are seeing?

not quite.
it's definitely related to the mute button context menu:
if i untick "post fader",the problem disappears, but then, i'm using the panner post-fader. i'd guess you have it pre-fader?
