Summary0002476: Crash on preview multichannel AIFF file in import window (Mac)
DescriptionArdour crashes when i try to preview a multichannel AIFF audio file recorded in MaxMSP in the import window (Session > Import) using either the play button or auto-play.

Ardour goes into what sounds like a stuck buffer loop, then crashes with the attached crash log.
Mac OS X 10.5.5, Intel

Here is a sample 8 channel AIFF file that crashes ardour (zipped):

Confirmed here on OS X 10.4 and Ardour 2.7

For further info, here is the output of sndfile-info on the file linked to above...

Version : libsndfile-1.0.17

  Channels : 8
  Sample Size : 24
  Encoding : NONE
 SSND : 7938008

So at my first, uninformed glance, it appears that libsndfile thinks it is a valid file at any rate.

PS The issue with Safari and IE(IIRC) with Mantis is a known issue sadly, but thanks for the reminder.

this is now fixed in svn, and will be in the 2.7.1 release.

thanks a lot for noticing this. i guess that even though we have many multichannel users (ardour is popular for that), nobody has ever auditioned a multichannel file with the auditioner still set up as a stereo track. had you set up a multichannel configuration for the auditioner, it would not have happened. this was a very important fix, in ways that might not be obvious. thanks again!
